THE RYT ACADEMY

Rotational Yoga Training

An integrated approach to movement, rotation, force, and perception.

Rotational Yoga Training explores the human body's capacity to organize movement through rotational relationships. Integrating principles of geometry, force, perception, and coordinated movement, RYT provides a progressive framework for developing movement skill, awareness, and adaptability.

EXPLORE THE PRACTICE

Movement Library

Explore five movement studies within the RYT framework. These introductory descriptions and observation cues are starting points for education, not complete pose instructions. Demonstrations will be added as reference material becomes available.

Open lesson: Convergent Plank

Convergent Plank

Demonstration coming soon.

A movement study connecting a plank-based support position with Helix Theory's concept of Convergence. Explore the relationship between contact, orientation, and whole-body organization.

The exact RYT setup and progression will be shown in the forthcoming demonstration.

Coaching cues

Notice how support is distributed through your contacts. Observe whether breathing remains comfortable. Choose a variation appropriate to your experience, and do not treat greater effort as the goal.

Open lesson: Spiral Mountain

Spiral Mountain

Demonstration coming soon.

A standing study for exploring rotational relationships while noticing balance, contact, and orientation. The emphasis is on coordination rather than maximum twisting.

Precise foot placement and the RYT sequence await the demonstration.

Coaching cues

Notice where support is felt under each foot. Observe how a comfortable change in orientation affects the rest of the body. Avoid forcing a range to match an imagined shape.

Open lesson: Convergent Chair

Convergent Chair

Demonstration coming soon.

A chair-based movement study exploring how lower-body support and inward-directed relationships interact. Use it as a lens for noticing coordination, rather than a demand to copy one depth or angle.

The demonstration will establish the intended setup and available variations.

Coaching cues

Notice the relationship between foot contact and your sense of balance. Keep the chosen range manageable. Observe changes in loading without assuming that sensation measures internal force.

Open lesson: Low Lunge Coil

Low Lunge Coil

Demonstration coming soon.

A low-lunge study of Coil, relative orientation, and the relationship between support and rotation. It introduces the idea of preparing movement through coordinated segmental relationships.

The forthcoming RYT demonstration will specify the contact arrangement and sequence.

Coaching cues

Notice which contacts feel supportive. Explore the experience of winding without pushing into a larger twist. Keep attention on timing, comfortable breathing, and the option to reduce the range.

Open lesson: High/Crescent Lunge Coil

High/Crescent Lunge Coil

Demonstration coming soon.

A high-lunge study connecting Coil with stance organization and changing support. It provides a context for observing the relationship between the lower body, trunk, and intended direction of movement.

Exact RYT positioning and progressions will be established through the demonstration.

Coaching cues

Observe how stance affects balance and perceived loading. Use support or an easier variation where appropriate. Prioritize a manageable relationship between orientation and control over a deeper position.

NOTICE AND REFINE

Practical Activities

Wall Coiling

Use wall contact as a reference for exploring the relationship between rotation and perceived support. Notice how the contact changes as orientation changes, without treating the wall as something to push against as hard as possible.

This educational activity will receive an approved setup demonstration. Keep exploration within a comfortable range and stop if it produces pain or unusual symptoms.

Controlled Articular Rotations (CARs)

Explore slow, controlled joint movement as an opportunity to notice position, range, and coordination. The aim here is sensory observation, not achieving the largest possible circle.

Use an appropriate instructed variation and a comfortable range. Joint-specific sequences and demonstrations can be added here as the curriculum develops.

Wrist CARs

Bring the same observational approach to wrist movement: notice control, transitions, and the difference between intended movement and perceived position.

Use a comfortable, unloaded variation appropriate to your experience. Do not force an end range or continue through discomfort. The exact demonstration and progression remain to be added.

Movement Perception Exercises

Compare sensations of weight, pressure, support, and joint position during familiar, comfortable movement. Change one aspect at a time, such as the direction of attention, and observe rather than chase a particular feeling.

Keep observations distinct from explanations: a sensation is useful feedback but does not prove a specific mechanical or therapeutic effect. This activity connects to the Perception chapter of the Library.
